St Peter's VC Academy Ofsted Report 2024

Ofsted

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people, and services providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

Every week, they carry out hundreds of inspections and regulatory visits throughout England and publish the results online. Their goal is to achieve excellence in education and skills for learners of all ages, and in the care of children and young people.

They are responsible for:

  • inspecting maintained schools and academies, some independent schools, and many other educational institutions and programmes outside of higher education
  • inspecting childcare, adoption and fostering agencies and initial teacher training
  • publishing reports of our findings so they can be used to improve the overall quality of education and training
  • regulating a range of early years and children’s social care services, making sure they’re suitable for children and potentially vulnerable young people
  • reporting to policymakers on the effectiveness of these services

Ofsted Parent View can be used for you to give your views about our school directly to OFSTED, the link is here .

Catholic Schools Inspectorate

All Catholic schools within the Diocese of Middlesbrough are inspected by the CSI under Section 48 of the Education Act 2005. These inspections focus specifically on the Catholic character of each school, looking at the quality of Religious Education, the impact of collective worship and the ways in which Catholic life is lived and celebrated across the community. The process ensures that schools remain true to their mission of making Christ known while continuing to grow and develop.

Areas evaluated:

Catholic Life: How the values, ethos and Catholic teachings are embedded in daily school life.

Religious Education: The quality of the curriculum, teaching, and pupils’ progress and achievement in RE.

Collective Worship: The inclusivity, effectiveness and impact of prayer and worship, including student participation.

Leadership: How school leaders promote, monitor, and evaluate provision for Catholic life, Religious Education, and collective worship.

Moral and Spiritual Development: The ways in which the school supports pupils’ moral, spiritual and personal growth.
