About Us
St Peter’s VC Academy is a Roman Catholic primary school in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It is part of the St Cuthbert's Roman Catholic Academy Trust and the family of Catholic Schools across the Diocese of Middlesbrough.
We are committed to continually striving for excellence, doing so because we recognise that each child is a unique creation, made in the image of God for a divine purpose and an eternal destiny.
Our school is organised as a community where God is experienced in reality; where the truths of the Catholic faith and principles of morality are taught and valued; where the faith is celebrated in the liturgy; and where the Gospel is translated into daily life action. Each person is respected and valued as unique in the image of God.
Our aims:
- To develop the practice and understanding of Gospel values in the child so that his/her actions are reflective of the teachings of Christ.
- To help the pupils to acquire knowledge, skills and understanding which are relevant to the personal growth and to the rapidly changing world.
- To develop within the pupil the ability to understand and use language and number fluently and effectively.
- To foster a sympathetic understanding and tolerance of the diversity of religious, cultural and racial groups within our community.
- To help pupils to develop an awareness and appreciation of human achievements and aspirations.
- To help pupils to develop an appreciation of education as a lifelong and enjoyable process.
- To develop the child’s sense of responsibility, self-reliance and individuality; enabling them to contribute fully, as responsible adults, to future society.
- To heighten the awareness and appreciation of creation through the study of the environment.
Our emphasis, throughout the school, is to provide a framework of experiences through which each child may attain his/her optimum growth educationally, emotionally and spiritually. This framework is at the heart of our belief that each child is created, uniquely, in the image of God and as such, should have access to a differentiated, organised, stimulating and creative curriculum which best meets the individual’s needs.
